Is the U.S. government really that bad?

When was the last time you heard a good comment about the U.S. government? One thing I've been hearing a lot lately is how bad of a job President Barack Obama is doing. "President Obama is running this country right into the ground!" Before President Obama, people complained about George W. Bush.

I'm only old enough to remember back to Bill Clinton, but I can tell you that over the course of the last three presidencies, my day-to-day life hasn't really changed one bit.

It seems to me that the U.S. government gets more bad press than anyone - and my question is - are they really doing that bad of a job? Maybe they are… but aren't we the people voting for them? I guess, maybe, we the people are really bad at picking our leaders.

I think a lot of the animosity stems from people's general desire to complain - which I suppose is another topic for another day. But, with everything I read, hear, and see about our government - I'm just surprised so many people still live in the United States… and that we still have people trying to get into our country illegally.

I guess if I was still a fetus, and able to pick which country to be born into, I would probably pick the U.S. And as an adult I choose to stay and live and raise my family, here in the U.S. I will agree that our government isn't perfect, but I do think it's pretty good - all things considered.
