Resolutions

I think the cool thing these days is to not have 'New Years Resolutions'. I think the thing is - if you want to make a change, don't wait until next year, start today… and I get that. However, the end of a year just seems like a natural time for reflection. How did you do this year? How can you do better next year.

I'm still working to become the person I want to be. I've made some progress this year but have a lot of work to do next year. Some goals for next year are:

Continue working toward financial freedom

I don't follow the Dave Ramsey plan to a T because I don't agree with cutting lifestyle drastically to get out of debt… other than that, we're on his plan (for the most part). We're making progress, slowly but surely. For 2011 we've made some changes including having an annual budget and also simplifying our checking accounts and going from 3 Wells Fargo accounts to 1 ING online checking account.

Stop being a slob/lazy

Clean up the dishes, wipe the table, clean off the counters when dinner is over. If there's trash in the car, throw it away. Make the bed in the morning. Scoop the snow. Don't get the wrong impression, we're not total slobs… but it's one of my goals to be on top of this type of stuff going forward.

Buy a pair of jeans that fit

I've never been big on clothes - and I think I dress decently for work… but it's also time to start dressing a little better outside of work. Appearance does matter to a certain extent.

Remember

Or at least not forget. Don't forget my gym clothes. Don't forget to pick up my daughter at Girl Scouts.

Keep working hard/smart

One thing I think I already do fairly well is my job - but I'm always trying to improve.

I think that kind of sums up what I want 2011 to be about. I have a picture in my head of the guy I want to be - and I'm not quite there yet… these goals will help me get there. And no, I won't wait until the New Year - I'll start today.
